Abhinav Bharat was registered as a Public Charitable Trust ( E-19962, Mumbai) under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 on January 28, 2002. The Management of the Trust is  vested with Maharashtra Executor and Trustee Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Maharashtra (a Nationalized Bank).

The Trust is inspired by ideals of “Abhinav Bharat” of the Twentieth Century that fought for Absolutely Independent India when even mention of “Swaraj or Self Rule ” was an anathema to  ‘responsible’ political opinion in India. It was based on an ideal of communal harmony  inherent in its flag which depicts that Hindus, Sikhs, Parsees, Christians and Muslims had developed blood ties during the course of history. The sacrifices made by members of Abhinav Bharat led by VinayakDamodarSavarkar, Madam Cama and countless others, are the stuff legends are made of.

Abhinav Bharat of the Twenty First Century seeks to work for an economically and socially independent India that is at peace and harmony with the rest of the world. Focus is on learning from the past and creating a bright future by emotional bonding based on team games like Hockey and Football and employing state of art technologies to spread education/health facilities. Projects of the Trust are:

1    War for Truth which challenges accepted wisdom. As a part of this project, the Trust has published books written by its Trustee, Dr Pankaj Phadnis:

  • Freedom Struggle – The Unfinished Story
  • War for Truth
  • The British Mutiny of 1857
  • Moving Away from Gandhian Monopoly
  • Abhimanyu Betrayed.

Amongst other things, the books challenge the notion that August 15 is Independence Day of India. An assertion that Government of India is not able to refute despite an order of Bombay High Court dated April 20, 2005 in WP(PIL) 682 of 2005.

2    Project Light, which is trying to spread education through Technology Enabled Learning. The Trust sponsored a Doctoral Study on use of IT systems to universalize primary education. It now seeks to participate in Digital India and Skilling India Projects of Government of India in collaboration with Indian and International educational institutes of repute.

3    Sparking a Million Mutinies which is focused on changing mind-sets. Two more books are planned.“Sparking a Million Mutinies – Road to Sindhutva” and “The Shroud of Gandhi and the Satanic Force”

The works of the Trust have been appreciated by public figures of repute including SmtLalita and Shri Sudhir Phadke, Shri Vijay Tendulkar, Shri Balasaheb Thackeray, Shri M.V. Kamath, Shri Fali Nariman, Shri Lal Krishna Advani and Shri Narendra Modi.

The Trust is not in any way related to the Pune based Trust of the same name and has filed WP 2942 of 2011 in the High Court at Bombay seeking deregistration of the Pune based trust. This Writ Petition has been admitted by the Bombay High Court.
